Former technical head dies

A former head of One Tree Hill College's technical department, Ronald Henry Smith, has died aged 85.

Ron Smith headed the department from 1964-75, when the college was known as Penrose High School, and was senior master from 1972 until his retirement in 1983. He was a popular and diligent teacher who took a keen interest in the college in his retirement years, including attending the 2005 golden jubilee celebrations.

His funeral service was held at Morrisons Funeral Home, Glen Innes, on 15 April 2009.
